Carytown
What’s the most quintessential Richmond, Virginia spot you can think of? For me, it’s GOT to be Carytown. With its adorable mom and pop shops, fabulous restaurants, tree-lined streets, and impeccable window shopping, Carytown is pretty much the perfect spot to be on a Saturday night. ESPECIALLY if you’re Taylor and Macy :).
Taylor & Macy
These two lovebirds met during the last few weeks of their freshman year at college. Taylor was attending Hampton Sydney College and Macy attended Longwood. It was none other than Greek Week that brought them together! Two years into their friendship they began dating and have now been together 4 years. Taylor and Macy moved in together when they moved to Richmond and Taylor knew it was time to make it official!
The Proposal
Taylor contacted me a few weeks ago letting me know his plan to propose to Macy. The *original* plan involved bringing her to the Texas Beach Trail where they often take their dog. For those of you not living in Richmond, we’ve been having CRAZY rains the last few weeks. In fact, the James River has risen to the highest flood levels it has been at in years! While rains may have kept us off the trails, Taylor was equipped with a superb back-up plan – dinner reservations with some of their closest friends at their favorite restaurant in RVA – East Coast Provisions!
After sharing a delicious meal and a few bottles of white, Macy and Taylor emerged from East Coast Provisions. And little did Macy know what an exciting turn the night was about to take! Taylor led his lovely girlfriend to “check out the little bakery he’d heard about next door, Pink Belle (::wink wink::).” Macy wandered up the steps in front of Taylor, commenting on how the shop was closed. And turned around to find Taylor down on one knee!!
To say Macy was surprised is the understatement of the year! Taylor’s proposal was followed by several ‘are you serious right now’s and a few ‘oh my gosh are you for real’s as the shocked Macy said “YES” to the love of her life! After lots of hugs, kisses, and happy tears, Macy, Taylor, and I spent a few moments capturing the joyful night :). Then, they headed back to their home…to a surprise engagement party to celebrate their love!
Taylor and Macy, I am BEYOND thrilled for the two of you as you begin this next chapter of your lives together. Here’s wishing you a lifetime of happiness and I hope to see you again real soon ;-).
