Ryan Turns ONE!

Today is Ryan’s first birthday! Happy birthday, Ry-Guy!! Somehow, in the blink of an eye, I have a one year old. It’s crazy to think that one year ago today, I was an unsuspecting 8-month pregnant Mama-to-be when my water broke unexpectedly. Before I had my little man, I had NO clue what this crazy ride of parenthood would be like (and let’s be honest, I’m still learning as I go), but I can and will say that I am beyond grateful. Ryan is honestly the most incredible little man – precocious, sweet, independent, funny, smart, and HAPPY – and Jonathan and I honestly couldn’t ask for more.

So what’s a photographer to do when their sweet little munchkin turns one? Why have their very own cake smash of course!

Ryan’s Cake Smash

So of course as a photographer, Ryan’s cake smash was not something I took lightly…but I was open to suggestions :-p. I asked my husband, Jonathan, if he had any ideas for Ryan’s cake smash and he did not disappoint. Without batting an eye he looked at me and said:

“LEGOS.”

And that was it – we had our cake smash theme! Which meant that Mommy was off to the races and literally thinking of anything and everything LEGO to incorporate into Ryan’s LEGO-themed cake smash! From his cake to the backdrop, the birthday sign to his LEGO “throne” and LEGO cake stand – I was pretty stoked to bring some creativity to life in the form of an in-home, studio-style cake smash session!

And so! Without further ado, Ryan’s LEGO-themed cake smash 🙂 A HUGE shout out to Jessica at Louisa’s Homemades for the incredible cake and for bringing my design idea to life!

Ryan, you are the best and we love you to the moon and back…about a million times. Happy first birthday, Peanut!!!
