Mags and David are one of those couple’s that are just plain fun to be around. Their energy is infectious (HA! Fun pun since, as you learned in Mags & David are Getting Hitched!, they’re both nurses!) and their deadpan sarcasm quickly brings me back to my days in New York :-p.
I was pretty hooked on this family from the moment I met them just a few short months ago. You know it’s going to be an excellent family affair when the bride, groom, AND both of the bride’s parents attend the consultation. And you know it’s going to be a FUN event when they continuously tell you how much they expect YOU to drink on their wedding day!
Mags and David were married at the Henrico County Courthouse at Lake Hening. If anyone ever tells you that a courthouse wedding is “plain”, it’s clear they have never seen the grounds in Henrico County! Situated just a few short steps from the courthouse itself is the beautiful Lake Hening, a gorgeous manmade lake, situated beneath a stunning, arched wooden bridge and beside several acres of woods.
AKA a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding!
AND! While it rained for DAYS before their wedding, the grey skies cleared up just a few hours before they tied the knot :).
Mags and David weren’t traditional about too many things on their wedding day, but they insisted that their first look be as Mags walked the aisle with her father. They were so sweet as they first glimpsed one another down the path!
After a sentimental lakeside ceremony, complete with vows the couple had written themselves for one another, we had just a few short minutes for family photos and portraits of the happy couple before it was…party time!
Mags and David’s reception took place at her sister Meghan’s home in Richmond. The front porch included an adorable photo booth, while the backyard was beautifully decorated with bistro lights, a white tent for their buffet style dinner (from Mags and David’s favorite Italian place in town!), as well as a fire pit, corn hole, giant Jenga, and beer pong!
After a delicious dinner and several heartfelt speeches from loved ones including both of the newlywed’s fathers, the best man, and maid of honor (who may or may not have brought more than a few tears to my eyes), David and Mag’s joyous night turned into a bumping dance party with everyone getting in on the fun!
David and Mags, your wedding was such a joyful day and I am so grateful to have been there. Thank you so so so so so much for welcoming me into your lives and the opportunity to capture your new beginning as husband and wife. Here’s to you and many many years of wedded bliss <3.
