This week I had the joyous opportunity to hang out with Margaret AKA Mags and David for their engagement session – and I can’t tell you just how excited I was to see these two again!
I met Mags and David not that long ago when Mags’ mom, Debbie (just like my mom!) contacted me via the interwebs :-p. Upon meeting Mags, David, Debbie, and Mags’ dad, Tony, I just KNEW that this was going to be a fun group to be around (they did, after all, tell me continuously that I should have more than a few drinks at their wedding with them – you know, to celebrate!)
We met this week at Brown’s Island for their engagement session, a gorgeous expanse along the James River with a brand new pedestrian footbridge to explore. While the weather was slightly ominous, the rain (mostly) held out and we were able to enjoy a relaxing evening by the river.
One of my favorite things about being a professional photographer is helping people to feel (and look!) comfortable in front of the camera. Mags and David kept saying over and over again:
“Sorry we are so awkward!”
I reassured them that, no, you’re NOT the most awkward people I’ve ever photographed and to take a deep breathe, enjoy the moment, and RELAX! Engagement sessions are amazing for exactly this reason – they are basically a “dress rehearsal” (especially when you have your make-up professionally done and look as GORGEOUS as Mags did!) where you get to hang out with your best friend and an amazing/incredible/stupendous photographer (woo!) who’s job is to make sure you look stunning while having a ball!
…and I think we were all able to achieve that pretty well, don’t you?

Seriously – how stunning is this lady??
Mags and David are both nurses. They often work varying shifts and can go days without seeing each other. But you would never know that from the way they interact with one another and how they are just so clearly in love <3.

Uh Oh! Someone’s having a hard time finding a heartbeat…
Luckily we only had a few light sprinkles during the whole session…but at least it allowed this happy bride and groom to show off their Patriots’ umbrella!
Mags and David, there is little to say except you are both AWESOME and I am so so so excited about your quickly approaching May wedding! I can’t wait to put on my dancing shoes and get down to a little “Bye Bye Bye” as we send you off in wedded bliss!
[…] are just plain fun to be around. Their energy is infectious (HA! Fun pun since, as you learned in Mags & David are Getting Hitched!, they’re both nurses!) and their deadpan sarcasm quickly brings me back to my days in New […]
